Faculty of Applied Studies:

Department of Interior Design

Mission & Objectives

Interior Design Program was the first of its kind among the Sudanese institutions and it aims at consolidating its efforts to develop to a well established academic discipline. However, the studies in the program are based on multi-disciplinary approaches to combine various aspects of architecture with arts. Thus the studies are intended to graduate creative students able to use aspects and objects in their future Profession.

The emphasis in the Faculty, since its establishment, has been on Interior Design, but recently the University Academic Council approved the curriculum of Industrial Design, Graphic Design and Higher Diploma Studies, which will be the next goal of the Faculty.

Study Courses

In order to deliver the Department program and include the required skills, several subjects are taught to students during four years leading to B.A. These subjects cover: design, environmental science, perception building technology, structure project management and quantity surveying. English for Specific Purposes (E.S.P.), Arabic for Specific Purposes (A.S.P.) and Islamic Studies are also taught in the first three years while a Sudanese Studies course is offered only in the first year.
