Faculty of Human and Technological Development

 

 

Mission & Objectives

This Faculty is one of the academic pillars of OAU. Its mission is to promote Community Development, with special emphasis on Human Resources Development. This is envisaged to be achieved through Extra-Mural Studies Programs as well as Continuing Education and Distant Learning Programs.

In its efforts to fulfill its Mission, the Faculty hopes to achieve the following objectives:

To improve the educational standards of human resources so as to enable them to cope with the changing National and International Economic and Technological conditions.

To introduce programs to promote national manpower abilities to face the competition in the Local and International Labour markets.

 

 

 

Current Departments

The Faculty runs the following Departments:

1. Intermediate Diploma Department

This Department awards a Three-Year Technological Diploma in the following specialization.

2. Department of Continuous Education

This Department offers Continuous Education to Degree holders and to school leavers. The school leavers who join this program, are offered a one-year course leading to a certificate in one of the following disciplines:

V.  Documentation

Future Plans

1. Undergraduate Unit

Our plan is to introduce an undergraduate unit to offer Bachelor Technological (B.Tec.) Degree in the following disciplines:

I.  Economics & Administrative Sciences

II.   English Language

III.  Accounting

IV. Translation

2. Postgraduate Diploma Department

This Department aims to introduce an integrated multidisciplinary programs leading to a Postgraduate Diploma in one of the following disciplines:

Economics of Petroleum

To qualify for P.G. Diploma, students need to attend and pass examinations in the following subjects:

  1. The economics of production
  2. The economics of marketing
  3. The Environmental Accounting of Petroleum Production
  4. The legal aspects of production, marketing, etc. of Petroleum

Primary Health Care

To qualify for P.G. Diploma students need to attend and pass examinations in the following subjects:

Environmental Rehabilitation

To qualify for P.G. Diploma students need to attend and pass examinations in the following subjects:

  1. The rehabilitation of agricultural and pastoral environment
  2. The rehabilitation of water environment (surface and underground water and sea coasts).
  3. The rehabilitation of industrial environment
  4. The rehabilitation of urban environment

Department of Distance Learning

This Department aims at extending education opportunity to those whose time and employment commitments do not allow them to pursue their undergraduate education. It intends to make use of the internal media to deliver courses and receive inquiries and prescribed assignments through e-mail system.
